A Note on Our Foster Process

Thank you for your interest in fostering with Helmsted Holler Haven. We truly appreciate you taking the time to complete our foster application and for opening your home to an animal in need.

Please understand that submitting an application does not guarantee placement of a foster animal. Our top priority is ensuring each rescue is placed in the most appropriate foster environment based on their needs. The application is the first step in a thoughtful vetting and approval process designed to ensure a safe, supportive, and loving temporary home for our animals.

Our team carefully reviews every application, and foster placements are made based on what is in the best interest of the animal. This may include factors such as:

  • The animal’s specific needs, temperament, and medical requirements
  • The foster applicant’s home environment and lifestyle
  • The presence of other pets in the home
  • Location and distance from the rescue (for vet visits, transport, and support)
  • Previous experience with fostering or pet ownership

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to match each animal with the right foster home. Fostering plays a critical role in saving lives, and we are grateful for your willingness to help animals on their journey to finding a forever home.

Fostering provides a safe and loving temporary home for animals while they wait for their forever families. By opening your home to a rescue animal, you’re helping them learn what it means to feel safe, loved, and part of a family. Foster homes allow us to save more animals and give them the care and attention they deserve.

When you foster with us, you’re not just helping a pet—you’re saving a life and playing a critical role in their journey to a forever home. Helmsted Holler Haven provides veterinary care and guidance to support you every step of the way.

Submit a Foster Application:
Interested in fostering? Fill out our online foster application so we can learn more about your home, lifestyle, and the type of animal that may be the best fit for you.

Foster Placement & Introduction:
Once your application is approved, we’ll work with you to match you with an animal that fits your home. We’ll help coordinate the introduction and make sure you feel prepared. You will need to complete the Foster Care Agreement.

Provide a Loving Temporary Home:
Give your foster animal a safe, caring environment while they wait for adoption. Our team will support you throughout the process until the animal finds their forever family.

I understand that failure to provide this authorization or incomplete information may result in the rejection of my application.

The below information is optional but please feel free to add any information that you think may be relevant:

I/we have read the previous information carefully and have completed this application honestly. I/we understand that omission of information and/or failure to answer all questions can result in this application being declined. Also, if an omission or untruth is discovered after the fostering takes place, I/we understand that Helmstead Holler Haven Animal Rescue (HHHAR) reserves the right to terminate the foster relationship and reclaim the animal. I/we give Helmstead Holler Haven Animal Rescue (HHHAR) permission to fully investigate the information provided as well as contact our veterinarian(s) as related officials. If the application passes this review, I/we agree to a home and yard visit on a mutually agreed date by a Helmstead Holler Haven Animal Rescue (HHHAR) volunteer before a fostering decision is made.

In addition, I/we understand the fostering decision is dependent on many factors, including but no limited to the compatibility of the family and home to the individual animal, and other applications received on this animals. I/we understand it is Helmstead Holler Haven Animal Rescues` (HHHAR) prerogative to decide which home is most appropriate and that their decision is final and, therefore, I/we will not argue with the decision. Unless otherwise indicated by Helmstead Holler Haven Animal Rescues (HHHAR), I/we am free to apply and undergo the fostering application process in the future.

Futhermore, if an animal is adopted through Helmstead Holler Haven Animal Rescues (HHHAR) but listed as a `Courtesy Listing`, Helmstead Holler Haven Animal Rescues (HHHAR) will not be held responsible for medical care and/or treatment needed after the adoption is complete. The individual named in the `Courtesy Listing` may be held liable for care depending on circumstances surrounding the transaction.
